Collide-o-Scope

you know a kid when you see one.
they look young, obviously, and they're so uncut.
see them walk, talk, brush their hair off their forehead, climb stairs, adjust a shirt or skirt.
it looks normal, yet so unpolished.
not to say it's ugly or unsightly, but just plainly unseasoned. like how a dance move hasnt been practiseed enough.

you see someone in a tank-top, mini-skirt and hair all done up.
she looks good.
but it's quite a torture to watch her cross an overhead bridge.
even from afar, i knew she wasnt a day older than 12.
it's awkward movements that give it away.
totally.
carrying the handbag, trying to descend the steps with style.
so unseasoned.
she so wasnt used to it.
not yet at least.

that's what makes us (adults) different.
we've lived just that tad longer.
that bit that defines us from the young ones.
our movements and lagnuage more polished, more personalised, very few rough edges.
i guess my point is, growing up isnt just about growing old, it's not so much about aging, it's more about experiencing.
right?
i sounded so cheesey.

once you've learnt how to die, you learn how to live.
