91He stood at the head of the long table, his bride sat by his side. "For those who know her," he said, with his glass raised "you would have realise that she doesn't smile very much." he drew a boyish grin, the friends and family giggled politely. "But when she does smile," he continued, "you know it's all been worth it... ... ...it melts me." It was their wedding and they were the happiest couple alive. Then she smiled one of those rare crescents and the table revelled in silence with the groom.
New Zealand was great. the plains of Middle Earth were beautiful. wild horses, hares, hedgehogs (they were not porcupines), pine trees, morning mist, meandering streams, clear skies, lakes, mountains, winding roads, sail boats, parks, the harbour, rapids, ravines, pine cones, balcony bars, lovely people... ... ...i could exhaust my fingers before my list.
i must say though that the cold during the hours of sun down can be quite bad. crusts of ice form on benches and tables if you leave them in the open overnight. sometimes you cant tell if your face is hurting from the sunburn or the cold, and the non smokers are constantly puffing mist.
it can be funny sometimes. but of course i didnt mean for it to be.
in any case, NZ still managed effortlessly to take my breath away. it was gorgeous in the most splendid of ways. it's like everything you saw was panoramic, and it's just all around, like all your senses had to work in overdrive for you to grasp the omnipresent type of beauty. awestruck was the word. i fell for it like a suicide of a bridge. utterly and helplessly in love.
