ReporterI wanted to film this video when we were in NZ. I'd pretend to be a reporter and i'd be covering my own unit's exercise. I kinda had the script written out, like what to say in front of the camera, but i ended up not having time to film it. Quite a waste, cos that morning was exceptionally cold, and everyone were just huddling together - or at least me and my team were. hah.
I was reading Gaiman that day and he mentioned something about fishies only having a super short memory. I mean, most of us already knew that, but it struck me that they (fishies) could be swimming around with the same fishies their whole life and when they meet them in some other corner of the pond, the go "hey, how's it going stranger? never seen you before". it's weird isnt it?
it's like you only know someone for as long as you remember him. after that, if you forget someone, you kinda get a chance to reknow him. start afresh. right? if only things were that simple. like rebooting.
the human memory isnt fantastic either. but then again, if we had near perfect memories, where the fun in a girl asking her boyfriend "so when was our first walk on the beach?" ya know...it wouldnt be half as romantic if he remembered. flaws are so necessarily human. it's an integral part of our being. almost as if our existence was built on it. flaws. beautiful.
