There was this couple i knew.
Called Jack and Jill.

They've been happily married for a while now and lived in a small house with small porch.
Life was pretty good for them. Good jobs, comfortable life. It was all going fine and dandy.
Beside the small porch was a small garden with a small tree that was left by the previous owner.
The tree, though small, was still a tree and had roots which crept onto the driveway just before the house.
That was one of the reasons why Jack grew the dislike it.
Everytime he backed his car up the driveway, he'd go over the little roots.
That got him rather irritated at times.
At first he'd cut the stray roots - chopped them off, and it worked for a while.
But eventually they'd grow back, and the more he cut them the faster they grew.
After a few rounds of lumberjacking, he figured enough was enough.
He took at trip to the friendly neighborhood store and got himself weed killers, all sorts of them.
Religiously, he sprayed the leaves with weed killer and scattered pellets.
He did that every evening in hope that the stupid tree would die, or at least so the bloody roots would stop growing.

True to it's brand, Killit! weed killers proved to be the stronger of the two as the tree's health started deteriorating.
The roots no longer bothered him.
A week later, despite Jack's continuous application of stuff to the tree, it didn't die.
Sure the tree looked sad and skinny and about to die.
You knew it wasn't because a leaf would sprout from time to time.
Jack upped the dosage but even so, the tree would not die.
Bloody thing.
No amount of weed killer or spit or rat poison could kill it.
The tree held strong.

At breakfast one morning, Jack noticed that Jill was feeling less than usual.
Actually, he noticed that she had been that way for a while now.
Being the really good husband he is, he took her in his arms and asked what might be the cause of her unhappiness.
With that, she took his hand and walked him out into the garden where the sad lil' tree was.
She said for weeks, the tree had been suffering from terrible health.
It drove pins into her heart everytime she caught sight of the poor little thing.
All her efforts of feeding it fertilizer and watering all seemed to be in vain.
All the love in the world could not seem to return the tree to its healthy former self.

That's what Jack told me the last time i saw him...
