.
I am definately a sucker for sweet, happy endings.
And I'm damn proud of it.
Stardust, was such a film, with a sweet, happy ending.
As sweet and happy as sweet and happy gets.
to be continued...
(going shoe shopping now! shopping on daddy's tab. good things like that wait for no man)
....return
i got myself shoes and pants that i now feel like i shouldn't have. sigh.
next, i should t-shirts that say
"Perpetual Victim of Post Purchase Dissonance",
"The Melancholic Death of Cognitive Dissonance Boy",
"I HEART Cognitive Dissonance! NOT!",
"'Dissonance' is a Four Letter Word",
"I've Got Dissonance Lovin' Me",
"Harmonious Dissonance",
"Me & My Relationship with Bad-Purchases".
Screw it.
back to be movie, it was SWELL AS HELL!! It left me feeling a million times warmer and fuzzier than the wedding i just attended, which isn't saying much, but it was really really good.
Like most novel-turn-movies, it didn't strictly stick to the game plan. Parts were cut out (obviously so since Gaiman is big on detail and would've made any film maker sweat trying to convert all his work into motion), and characters survived death that was set in stone. But knowing that Gaiman was on the set and produced the film makes me think that he must've ensured the essence of his work was captured in the film. And i must say, what captivated me in the book was the same thing that enthralled me in the film.
The stellar cast, no pun intended, put up a great performance, which i believe most people fail to appreciate these days, choosing only to judge a film based on accuracy and cinematography, in which case, the latter was great! The cinematography, or story telling, as I prefer to call it was splendid. Couldn't have asked for more. The film, put in motion and picture what I had in my mind when i read the book, and "amazing" just doesn't quite describe it. It's like seeing your dream on big screen, literally. Brilliant work. Oh yes, and they picked the best person to narrate - Sir Ian McKellen. woots!
I must say though, that i was rather disappointed when they fast-forwarded some of the good parts. So those who haven't read the book, please tell me if you enjoyed the film, cos i need another perspective. One that's not influenced or slightly swayed.
Many thanks.
Oh yes, watch the star GLOW!! Damn sweet!!
By the way, Jason is a prick with a new bike, who can't afford to fly his ass home to the equatorial regions cos he spends most of his money getting himself into tight, dank, dark holes. Bleah!
